Róisín:
Bhí deireadh seachtaine iontach agam, caithfidh mé a rá.
I had a great weekend, I have to say.
Ciara:
Cén fáth?
Why?
Róisín:
Chuaigh mé amach chuig dinnéar oíche Dé Sathairn leis an bhfear sin, David, ar chas mé leis an mhí seo caite.
I went out to dinner on Saturday night with that man, David, that I met last month.
Ciara:
Dáiríre! An raibh am deas agaibh?
Really! Did you have a nice time?
Róisín:
Bhí. Bhí am an-deas againn.
Yes. We had a very nice time.
Ciara:
Cén áit a ndeachaigh sibh?
Where did you go?
Róisín:
Chuamar go dtí an bhialann nua Indiach sin in aice leis an leabharlann.
We went to that new Indian restaurant beside the library.
Ciara:
Ó, is ea. An raibh an bia go deas?
Oh, yes. Was the food nice?
Róisín:
Bhí agus bhí an béile an-saor. D’fhanamar ansin go dtí a haon déag, agus ansin bhí cúpla deoch againn.
Yes and the meal was very cheap. We stayed there until eleven, and then we had a few drinks.
Ciara:
Cén t-am a chuaigh tú abhaile?
What time did you go home?
Róisín:
Ní dheachaigh mé abhaile – d’fhan mé le David.
I didn’t go home - I stayed with David.
Ciara:
D’fhan tú thar oíche leis; is cailín dána thú!
You stayed with him overnight; you’re a bold girl!
