Stiofán is at a party in his new girlfriend Caitríona’s house and doesn’t know too many people there. Caitríona introduces him to a few of her friends.
Tá Stiofán ag cóisir i dteach a chailín nua agus níl aithne aige ar an oiread sin daoine ansin. Cuireann Caitríona in aithne é do roinnt dá cairde.

Caitríona:
Seo í Caroline agus seo é Gerry.
This is Caroline and this is Gerry.
Stiofán:
Tá sé go deas bualadh libh.
It’s nice to meet you.
Caitríona:
Agus seo iad Julie agus Nóra.
And this is Julie and Nóra.
Stiofán:
Cén chaoi a bhfuil sibh?
How are you?
Gerry:
Cé as thú, a Stiofáin?
Where are you from, Stiofán?
Stiofán:
Is as Cluain Meala mé ach tá mé i mo chónaí anseo i mBaile Átha Cliath anois le dhá bhliain anuas.
I’m from Clonmel but I’ve been living here in Dublin now for the past two years.
Gerry:
Agus cén post atá agat? An cuntasóir tusa freisin?
What job do you have? Are you an accountant too?
Stiofán:
Ní hea. Is altra mé – tá mé ag obair in Ospidéal San Séamas.
No. I’m a nurse - I work in Saint James’ Hospital.
Gerry:
Agus an maith leat Baile Átha Cliath?
And do you like Dublin?
Stiofán:
Is breá liom é. Tá mé i mo chónaí i lár na cathrach, mar sin is féidir liom siúl gach áit. Níl mé ach ceathrú uaire siúil ón obair.
I love it. I live in the city centre, so I can walk everywhere. I’m only fifteen minutes’ walk from work.
Gerry:
Tá sin go hiontach. Caithimse uair go leith ar an mbus gach maidin agus tráthnóna. Is crá croí é!
That’s great. I spend an hour and a half on the bus every morning and evening. It’s a pain!
